Prevention Tips During Typhoon 2020

Preparedness for an upcoming natural calamity is a must.

                                                           From Pagasa Website

2 days ago, Quinta from a low pressure area developed into a Tropical depression and now maintining its strength becomes a typhoon with an international name Molave.

latest weather bulletin from PAGASA's Twitter account

Due to the heavy rains and strong winds that Quinta is bringing across the country, many cities are under signal no. 3. Whereas Metro Manila is now signal no. 2.
Class and works are now suspended because of the Typhoon.

                                                         From Pagasa's Twitter Account

According to the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical, Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) an average of 20 cyclones will form within or enter the Philippine Area Of Responsibility  (PAR), while around half of these will make a landfall.

In this case, we all should have knowledge and understanding to be prepared for this rainy season.

● Prepare a GO BAG

-Non perishable foods such as canned goods
-Clean water
-important documents
-face masks
-Cellphone
-Flashlight
-Basic medicine such as paracetamol and
Basic first aid medicine like povidone iodine, alcohol
-few clothes
-tools in case of emergency like rope and scissors
-bring a powerbank
-
Before a typhoon made its landfall, we should be preparing a go bag that is consist of the most important things we can bring whenever we need to evacuate.

● Monitor news updates

Always watch and listen to the news update regarding the Typhoon's track. If its necessary to leave the house, it will be helpful to bring radio transistor to gather updates and warnings from the state weather bureau.

● Preparing your House

Check the status of the house. Check the roofs and make sure that there are no leaks. If the house is prone to flood, lift all appliances and things that may be wet due to flood. Check the outlets and make sure that before you leave the house, turn off the main switch.

● Keep proper coordination

Be well  coordinated with the local government units. It is important to have a communication with the disaster management team and rescue team in order to reach you as soon as possible in case of a need to evacuate.

As the famous saying goes "An ounce of prevention is better than a pound of cure", although we do not have the ability to tell the exact date of the typhoon and to avoid these natural calamities to happen, we can lessen the damage by being prepared and alert at all times.

In these trying times, while the pandemic is not yet over and the typhoon may ravage some parts of the country it is always better to seek guidance and help through prayers. As the song goes, "I believe, above the storm the smallest prayer will still be heard". Let us not loose hope on the One above.

Keep safe. God bless!

DO'S AND DONT'S DURING RAINY SEASON

Has it been raining almost every week? Last October 18, a low-pressure area entered the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR), which has seen then strengthened and developed into a severe tropical storm Pepito. Pepito, who’s internationally named Typhoon Saudel, made landfall over San Ildefonso peninsula in Casiguran Aurora at 9 p.m. PHT

Yesterday, another tropical depression named Quinta brings heavy rains and causes floods in the areas of Catanduanes, Sorsogon and the Northern parts of Masbate. Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) warned the public that Quinta will intensify and may developed into a tropical storm and could reach into a severe tropical storm.

According to the state weather bureau, rainy season is from June to November; and the dry season from December to May.

When it rains, it pours, literally it pours flood and can cause a major calamity and disaster across different areas.

So how do we prepare for this? Here’s a comprehensive list of dos and don’ts when we’re expecting heavy downpours.

DO’s

BETTER TO STAY IN YOUR HOME

We’ve been hearing these words for the last previous months but it is still one way to avoid contact on viruses and bacteria. The fight against the pandemic is not over yet and as the peak of rainy season approaches, avoid to get sick should be a top priority.

EAT HEALTHY FOODS

Soup and hot meals are best served during cold and rainy days. Choose veggies and high- nutrients foods to help strengthen your body.  Some must-try dishes during the rainy days are turmeric tomato soup, ginger chicken soup, and local dishes like Sinigang and Tinola which are popular staples here in the Philippines.

TAKE VITAMIN C

Vitamin C is known as an immunity booster. When the body has a strong immune system, it will work well to protect the body from viruses. You can increase your Vitamin C intake by eating fruits high in this vitamin like oranges, kiwi, and guavas.

Wear Dry and comfortable clothes

Wet and cold things can be a breeding ground for bacteria and viruses so make sure to stay dry.

Maintain Personal Hygiene and Keep the House Clean

We know how important it is to wash our hands and we better keep that in mind. And as we take care of our personal hygiene, it’s also crucial to maintain the cleanliness of our homes.

We can do this by sweeping our floors top avoid dust build up because they can cause allergy. Entering the rainy season also means we entered dengue season. We can avoid this by checking stagnant water and making sure they are covered to prevent mosquito breeding. We can also start using mosquito repellant lotions as an extra measure especially for our kids.

DON’T’s

Don’t Go Outside Unprepared

If you can’t avoid going out of the house to run errands just make sure that you are in complete gear.

Wear thick clothes with jacket and raincoat, must also remember to bring your umbrella all the time. Make sure that you are also wearing boots to avoid being soaked in the flood and risking yourself in getting infection, like leptospirosis. Always bring your alcohol with you!

AVOID ENTERING AIR-CONDITIONED AREAS, WHEN WET

If you went outside and got soaked in the rain, when you go home do not go directly in the air-conditioned rooms. Why? The very cold temperature plus you being wet might make you catch fever and viruses like cough and cold. Make sure that when you get home you change your clothes and dry yourself as soon as you can.

BE SURE TO EAT COOKED FOODS.

Foods that are slightly cooked might be a cause of bacteria and viruses. During these rainy season, it is better to wash all the vegetables and meat thoroughly and cook it very well to avoid contact with bacteria and germs.

AVOID OUTDOOR ACTIVITIES

As we approach the rainy season it is advisable that we keep all of our activities inside the house to avoid going outside in the rain and risking ourselves of getting sick. There are various activities that are fun and exciting that we can do while we are indoors, like playing chess, doing music session with the guitar or even trying making a new hobby like baking.

ALWAYS STAY INFORMED

Yes, its raining and you feel like just enjoying a cup of coffee and eating your snacks while watching Netflix, but make sure that you are always updated. It is important that we regularly watch the news or check our phones for online updates regarding the development of the typhoon to know the next step that we should do.

And, above all these, it is very important to always PRAY. Let us not underestimate the power of prayer. We are asking God to do something we know we can’t do. We lift our supplications to HIM because He is greater than our worries in life.

My Version of Dalgona Coffee

Hi everyone! I hope that you are all safe as we still battle with the current crisis that is happening all over the world.

How was your day? What are you busy at while on enhanced community quarantine?

Since most of us is at the comfort of our own homes, we make ourselves busy whether its about cooking or binge watching movies on Netflix.

I have seen a lot of posts in my feed lately about the viral Dalgona Coffee. I was interested since its main ingredient is coffee.

So I will show you my own attempt of making Dalgona coffee. Do not hesitate to make one because its simple as ABC.

First things First, do not forget to wash your hands thoroughly before making your Dalgona, or in anything you do, please wash your hands as many times as possible.

Step 1:

Prepare all the ingredients:

- Coffee (Decaff or Strong, your choice)
- Sugar
- Fresh Milk (If this is not available, use Evaporated milk instead)
- Cube Ice
- Gelatin (I used this as an add-on for my coffee hehehe)

Step 2:

On a bowl, put two tablespoon of Coffee
Add two tablespoon of sugar
Mix these two ingredients together. I used an electric mixer so we can finish as fast as we can. Haha. Kidding aside, you may use a whisk beater and manually stir it. By the way, I saw a post from a friend that she actually used a fork, though it took a little longer to make that thick and frothy look.

Step 3:

On a clear glass, pour some milk, and if you like what I did you can add gelatin then ice cubes. After that, you may add the whipped coffee mix. Voila! Grab your phone and quickly snap a photo for your Instagram or Facebook story.

Enjoy your Dalgona Coffee with a book or while chatting with your loved ones. Honestly, we can make a lot of stuff as we stay home. This is also our way to help each other not to spread the virus.

I Hope to write another blog soon, God willing.

Songs of Comfort

We had a lot of sad thoughts right now, shocking and heartbreaking news seems to be everywhere as the world face these crisis.

With these things that continue to make our minds and hearts anxious, there are simple ways to help us ease the pain and somehow make us feel better. A person does not even need an expensive gadget to communicate to the One above. To whom we can utter all these cries of help and to help us get through it all. The best way is just to simply bent our knees, kneel on the ground and silently speak to the Almighty to give thanks and to ask for His mercy and help.

Aside from uttering a simple prayer, what are the other ways?  Listening, or better, join in singing praise is one. Sometimes, there are people who think that this is boring and just another time-consuming idea, but why not give it a try.

Almost all the countries in the world is on Lockdown and some even complains that they are stuck. For me, I feel sad and worried as well to those who have to stay outside their homes and leave their loved ones for the sake of their duties and responsibilities.

Having said all these, here are some of the songs of praises to give us time to pause, pray and reflect with the things that is happening around us.  I Listed some of these praise songs that give a  feeling of solace .

1.  May Awa ang Dios-  A 2014 ASOP entry that won as the Grand Champion. A heartfelt song that every line touches your soul. The song that will make you realize that God is a loving God, His mercy is everlasting. It was originally performed by Ms. Beverly Caimen and now Ms. Sheryn Regis also performed this song for Wish Bus.

You may both enjoy their great performances!

2. Reasons to Believe composed by Mr. Rommel Arguelles and performed by Mr. Gian Magdangal on ASOP Year 1.

It was one of my favorite songs! From the Title Reasons to Believe, there are million reasons to believe God exists. We may not see HIM but we can feel HIS presence. His mercy and grace that though we fall a lot of times, we have a lot of shortcomings, He will continue to help us get through. Heal us when we are sick, make us strong in times of our weaknesses.

3. IKAW, interpreted by Ms. Jonalyn Viray an ASOP Grand Champion on ASOP YEAR 3. A beautifully written song that will make us feel that when everyone else had turn their back on us, God remains. God is a true friend that will help us and give us hope in times of troubles and miseries.

4. KUMAPIT KA LANG- Composed by a LA Verdarian Student named Noemi Ocio and performed by MELA. It won as Grand Champion on ASOPTV. The song lyrics is about not giving up despite the trials and hardships in life. We must trust and ask for God's help to carry all these burden and with His help to make it through.

5. GOD WILL ALWAYS MAKE A WAY- Another ASOP winner! An upbeat song that makes us realize that there's nothing to worry if we put our trust in the Lord. If we are steadfast in faith, God will always make a way! :)

6. MIRACLES- We often ask for this particularly in those times when we almost lose our hope. In those moment when we don't know what to do anymore. This song from another ASOPTv entry is such a timely song in our current situation. I hope you will like this song as well.

These are just few of my favorite songs of praises. Obviously all of these are entries from ASOPTv. I hope theses will lighten your sadness and give you hope in times of this crisis. I would also love to write down my other favorite songs of praises, God willing. I hope if you are reading this, just carry on. Always pray and ask for God's guidance and mercy. Sending all my smiles to you.

BETADINE BODY WASH

Want to try something new in the town for your smooth, glowing skin? Introducing the new body wash of BETADINE. Oh! Maybe you are a bit shocked because Betadine is known as antiseptic, a medicine to treat wounds, but not anymore. Betadine is not only limited for antiseptic products but it also released products for feminine wash, an oral gargle and now as body wash.

Why Body wash?

For some reason, I prefer to use body wash because its easy to bring and use. We do a lot of travels, well its not what you think, like a vacation travel rather more of a work and religious affiliation related. I always bring basic travel kit items and that includes soap/ body wash. Its not messy since the liquid is contained on a bottle plus not bulky too. So body wash according to research helps us to fight bacteria and germs, leaving us a more clean and clear skin.

How did I find out the Betadine Body Wash?

I saw an Instagram post regarding the Betadine body wash. I was excited to see myself if it will work the same. So my brother bought online one of its variant the Betadine Manuka Honey Wash. Good thing its buy 1 take 1. After receiving the packaged (Happy that it’s well packed by the seller.) I was too excited to try, so I immediately wash my hands and arms. My skin felt smoother and bit fluffier. However, I have to be honest, the two bottles look like it was added with water.  That’s just the dilemma when you are purchasing online because you can’t see or check it first.

Betadine body wash has 3 variants, my loves decided to buy another 200ml bottle so we can test it too. Well, he just bought a perfect choice, the pomegranate flavor! I am so happy that this one is more refreshing! Surprisingly, I am so in love with the smell of this body wash and my skin feel so smooth. I even ask my loves to check my skin and he told me that its just softer and smoother.

Betadine Wash Manuka Honey (500ml)

Betadine Wash Pomegrenate(500ml)

Betadine Wash Tea Tree (500ml)

Unfortunately, Manuka Honey and Tea Tree is not available in Watsons that time. But will definitely try it as soon as it is in stock again. And I will let you know if there's a difference in an online store and a physical one, just want to make sure that the Manuka Honey wash we use is legit.

So far, I will give a 9/10 positive review for the pomegranate and 8/10 for the Manuka Honey. By the way, They also have foam hand wash and sanitizer. Just check their website to see more of their products. Here's the link:

MEMORIES AND STORIES

Hello 2020! This article will be my first blog entry for this year. I have a lot on my plate and I guess I have jotted down many topics as possible to feature. Due to a bunch of topics in my head, I decided to write randomly. 😅

Days before the end of 2019, I was both overwhelmed with happiness and sadness. It's quite ironic right? But it happens most of the time. At the moment you are excited and jovial and then hours later you are soaking yourself with tears, just the same I was very grateful for all the blessings and pardon I have received.

Last December 2019, well it was just last month, we received gifts from our families. We are surprised with a pair of white rubber shoes and a peach animal print Havaianas slippers, its pretty cute. We also had a bag of chocolates consists of our favorites, Hershey's almond, mini bars, Dairy Milk and snickers. Oopss guess I need to go check my weight and sugar. But I try to limit my chocolates because too much is bad. Good thing I have family and friends to share with. My little pumpkin pie received beautiful pair of clothes. He's very happy and excited to use it.

The White Rubber Shoes and my Slippers.. Cute!

The remaining chocolates. hahahaha

Three days before the end of December we attended our thanksgiving event. Its very memorable given the topics we have heard. I am out of words. All i can say is I will be forever grateful and thankful to the One above. HIS loving-kindness is forever.

As we jumped to year 2020. I read a beautiful quote... And I could not agree more. Its a powerful tool that we must always carry. Start and end the day with a prayer. It works!

From Good Morning Kuya's Post

Okay, so January 1, its a regular holiday. We visited Tagaytay! Yey! Hahahaha. Thank God. I am always in awe with the best architect in the whole universe and beyond. The beautiful places we've seen is just amazing. We are welcomed by strong winds and fogs! So cool breeze and you can smell the leaves especially when you walk a little higher.

View from the top.. Look at the FOG!!!!

Near the PAG-ASA's Doppler Radar

At People's Park Tagaytay

My loves decided to go down the road again. Its our second time. Another beautiful scenery to witness and a much closer look at the famous Taal Lake.  The view is just breathtaking!

Resort, Down the road

Side of the Road. We stopped by and just appreciate its beauty!

After the Tagaytay trip, it was actually four days after that Mi Loves family take us to a resort in Laguna. It was near Mount Makiling. Our journey was quite funny as our drivers were a bit lost on the road. They went to the wrong exit that's why we reached Batangas. Its Mi Loves who decided to check the waze so we drove back again, re-entering SLEX. Hahaha. Its fun and enjoyable by the way.

So beautiful! Look at those greens!

SLEX again Hahahah

Took the photo when everyone decided to have a quick brekkie

These are some of the memorable moments I've enjoyed and embraced before 2019 ends and as we welcome 2020! Thankful for everything. Let us never forget to say a little prayer everyday and all the time... Cheers everyone!
